Survival
(118)Today, when we live in a pre-tech world, many of us like to spend our free time in nature. Every stay outside, a short trip or a planned longer stay, whether in summer or winter, can change in an instant. Peaceful moments of a beautiful day and relaxation are replaced by a change of weather, a summer storm, a winter blizzard or an accident - anything can surprise us, a person suddenly finds himself in an emergency. Fortune wishes the prepared, one thing is balance, knowledge and skill, the other thing is our outdoor equipment that we have with us - and this is the key to how we can handle problems in nature.
Survival in nature depends on several factors - plenty of water and food, heat and drought, first aid in case of injury.
- We will use a sufficiently large backpack for packing, for example Mil-Tec backpacks are available in several sizes and colors with the MOLLE system.
- Having a good, fixed blade knife at hand is a necessity, it will not only help you cut food, but it will cut various materials. It will be used if it is necessary to start a fire, build a temporary shelter, but also for defense.
- Matches and a lighter can be used to start a fire, to prepare food, to heat and dry clothes, but only a fire starter can start a fire even in bad weather. Kupilka fire starter is reliable, this Finnish manufacturer also offers Kupilka dishes and Kupilka cutlery, resistant to water, falls and yet is lightweight.
- It is good to have a paracord included, it can be used when building a shelter, a saw for branches, a whistle to call for help, a classic compass, if we do not want to rely on a modern GPS, the Suunto compass is excellent.
- The Survival Set can be purchased already stacked, but we can easily assemble it ourselves, as well as buy a Mil-Tec first aid kit with emergency equipment in a pouch with the MOLLE system, which allows us to attach it to a backpack.
- The thick and durable Mil-Tec poncho will protect us from the rain, hide our equipment or build a shelter from it.
- A military field bottle, a tourist Kambukka bottle, or a Stanley thermos - whatever we choose, it is necessary to have something to store water, which we will take from a spring or stream in case of emergency.
- Help will be provided by practical Stanley set of camping dishes in which we boil water to make it safe to drink, they are also great for cooking and heating food.
- We must not forget the light - Fénix or Olight hand torches have great performance, they are compact and durable, the Fénix headlamp and Petzl headlamp are designed for just such purposes, for situations where we need to have our hands free.
Whether we are going to survive in extreme conditions, forestry - Bushcraft, any outdoor stay - the right equipment will help us handle unexpected situations.
