To open the Böker, you use both hands. For added convenience, there's a nail nick that offers extra grip with your fingernail. This pocket knife does not feature a full lock, but rather a slipjoint mechanism. This mechanism offers some resistance to prevent the knife from closing unexpectedly during regular use. However, applying pressure to the spine of the blade will cause the knife to close.
