Product Description
A piece of history comes alive! Tirpitz, the sister ship of the legendary Bismarck, was the largest battleship ever built for the German Navy. After being commissioned in February 1941, Tirpitz became a major threat to the Western Allies. History tells of many attempts to destroy this mighty colossus armed to the teeth. In September 1944, the battleship Tirpitz was severely damaged by British Royal Air Force airstrikes. Subsequently, the ship was relocated to the Norwegian coast in Tromsø. Tirpitz was once again the main target of heavy attacks by the Royal Air Force. In November 1944, Tirpitz was hit by special "Tallboy" bombs, which caused the ship to capsize in shallow water.
Shortly after World War II, a Norwegian specialized company began to examine the wreckage and recover high-quality steel for further civilian use. Scientists were very interested in this material since it was used in research and development of measuring technology and even in the aerospace industry. Norwegian divers started extracting the armor used on the ship from the fjord. The German cutlery company Boker began using this exceptional material to produce knives. These pieces of living history are exclusively handcrafted by professional blacksmiths who are masters in the production of Damascus steel. The blade is adorned with the pattern of "great pyramids" with over 300 layers, making it the highlight of any collection.
The handle, made of high-strength aluminum AlMgSi1 (with silicon, which gives it higher quality than AlMg3 standard), is anodized with a hard layer and provides a firm and secure grip. The knife features a reversible belt clip, allowing comfortable carrying for everyone. The handle insert is made of local walnut wood, known for its quality and proven in the use for long firearms. The whole is tastefully complemented by the original Tirpitz coat of arms. This knife combines history, tradition, and modern technologies in a more than unique way. It is delivered in a presentation box with a certificate of authenticity and a serial number.
