Carambite knives
(54)The origin of this interesting knife dates back to the 11th century in the area of Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, where it was used as a hand knife in agriculture, for cleaning fruits and vegetables, cutting various materials. It was also used as a combat weapon, as it was more difficult to detect and disarm the enemy, in which case the blade was covered with poison, so that even a small wound was fatal.
The shape of the carambite knife resembles a claw, the blade is curved, sharp, the handle is metal with plastic sides, at the end it has an eye, which makes the grip safer and allows rotation. In the seventies of the last century, it gained popularity in several martial arts, later the use expanded to self-defense. Among other things, the carambite knife is often used in housework or construction, it is interesting for collectors.
