Kupilka manufactures its products from Kareline Natural Fibre Composite, a composite material. This biomaterial consists of 50% pine fiber and 50% thermoplastic.

When comparing the composite with regular plastic, several advantages are evident. Composite products have better thermal and mechanical resistance due to their solid structure. They can also be engraved or engraved. When comparing fiber composites with wood, the most important advantage is that composites require no maintenance. Moreover, they do not absorb odors, flavors, and are not sensitive to moisture.

All Kupilka products can be washed in a mountain stream or in a dishwasher.

Kupilka products are recyclable and can be deposited in separate containers. All hang tags and packaging are made of recycled cardboard. The strap on Kupilka 5 is made of reindeer leather.

The material was developed at Puugia, Centre for Wood Technology in Joensuu, Finland. The material and all Kupilka products are manufactured by Plasthill Oy in the same region.
