Field Notes United States of Letterpress B: Springtide, Brad Vetter, Ben Blount (Graph Paper) FNC-48

With the 48th quarterly limited edition in the fall of 2020, "United States of Bookpress" became the edition featuring the work of nine independent book printers from across America. This series showcases a wide range of craftsmanship, ingenuity, and love for the timeless process of book printing.

With the help of friends from Finch Paper of Glens Falls, New York, and The French Paper Company of Niles, Michigan, Field Notes sent a different color cover to each store (all from the French Pop-Tone line) and specified only two identical ink colors (Rubine Red and Process Blue) for all notebooks in this edition. The results are as diverse and thoughtful as the participants themselves.

The arrangements, themes, and references of individual printers, who continue the tradition of American book printing, are highly personal statements about heritage, geography, tradition, social issues, and demonstrate the diversity and strength of contemporary book printing.

This project was made possible through the craft and creativity of twelve printers from across the United States, with the help, skill, and know-how of countless other printers, collectors, and enthusiasts.

The packaging includes one notebook from two different versions designed by Springtide Press in Tacoma, Washington. One of two versions by Brad Vetter from Louisville, Kentucky. And one of two versions by Ben Blount from Evanston, Illinois.

Field Notes notebooks are durable and flexible, designed to survive being carried in your pocket. They are stapled with three sturdy stitches. You can write your contact information on the front cover and humorously indicate whether the person who returns your lost book will be rewarded. The notebooks are made and printed in the USA.
