A unique aspect of the Fox FX-556 Metamorphosis is its playful use of contrasts. This characteristic is evident in every version of the pocket knife. These contrasts can be found in color, texture, or material choice.
This particular version of the Fox Metamorphosis features a wharncliffe blade crafted from Böhler M390 steel. This is a well-regarded steel from Austria, known for its excellent edge retention and high corrosion resistance. The bolster and backspacer are made from orange anodized aluminum, while the scales are crafted from green anodized aluminum. Notably, the handle includes an intriguing see-through section.
The pocket knife is opened and locked using the Radius lock, a design by Denis Simonutti. This mechanism uses a single button to open, close, and lock the knife. It is a groundbreaking innovation unmatched by any other brand. A new addition to the Metamorphosis is the modification of the Radius lock to also permit 'regular' blade opening via the flipper. This enhancement allows for even faster handling of the knife without sacrificing safety.
