The rechargeable Keeppower RCR123A 950 mAh (16340) battery with protective electronics (protected) is based on lithium-ion technology. Li-ion technology provides one of the best ratios of stored energy to cell weight. The batteries do not have a memory effect, and self-discharge is minimal. Compared to standard Fenix RCR123A batteries, this cell has about 30% higher capacity while maintaining the same dimensions, resulting in approximately 30% longer runtime. We verified the capacity through our own measurements.

Battery protection can be divided into two areas. The first includes added electronic circuits that prevent overcharging the cell (a situation where there is a risk of explosion with traditional li-ion batteries) or, conversely, excessive discharging (the battery would then be unable to recharge). Additionally, these circuits protect the battery against short circuits or high current draw that could damage the battery. If the battery's electronics detect reaching limit values, the cell is disconnected. The second area of protection includes protection against overheating (PTC thermal protection) and a special explosion-proof vent.

In size, the RCR123 battery corresponds to a single-use lithium CR123A battery, making it a common rechargeable alternative for these disposable cells in flashlights. Verify for the first time whether your device supports this cell because, compared to a disposable battery, it has a higher nominal voltage.
