REN-ZDP Rockstead

The Rockstead REN-ZDP folding knife features a distinctive design that merges the Western geometric handle pattern with the traditional Japanese Katana blade geometry known as "Tanto - Honzukuri." Rockstead knife names and terms often carry special hidden meanings, and the name "Ren" is no exception. The name "Ren" (錬) is derived from classic honorary titles in Japanese martial arts (Budo) such as Ren-shi, Kyo-shi, Han-si, and Mei-jin. These titles signify a certain level of skill and understanding, awarded to those who demonstrate exceptional technique, knowledge, and character in Japanese martial arts. For the REN model, Rockstead indicates that it represents the initial step towards perfection. Honzukuri (本造り) refers to a traditional Katana craftsmanship term meaning "to carefully examine the raw materials and take the time to craft the Katana properly." The knife boasts high-end ZDP-189 steel, optimal heat treatment (67 Hrc), a convex blade geometry with a variable angle along its length, a high-end mirror polish, and exceptional sharpness, culminating in the ROCKSTEAD REN HONZUKURI. The REN features an impressive handle with a 3D milled dry carbon fiber scale on one side and a 3D milled Titanium Frame Lock with a Hardened Steel Lockbar Insert on the other. It offers smooth action thanks to phosphor-bronze washers and precise fitting. Each blade has a unique number, allowing registration on the Rockstead website to prevent resale if stolen. The REN comes in a Paulownia wood box with a knife passport and warranty letter. (Note) REN is not a flipper knife model.
