Shapton Naoru Cast-iron Lapping System SH-0510

The Shapton Naoru cast-iron lapping system is designed for cleaning and lapping your sharpening stones. It is designed for Shapton Japanese stones, but can also be used on other sharpening stones. The set consists of a cast-iron lapping stone and two bottles of lapping powder (silicon carbide - coarse grit, and medium grit).

Even if you use the best sharpening stones in the world, if they are not completely flat, you will not be able to fully utilize them. Therefore, it is important to fine-tune them. The lapping stone is heavy and hard. It has dimensions of 25 x 10 cm. It is enriched with grooves with a crystalline structure. These grooves increase the interaction between the lapping stone and the silicon carbide grains.

The Shapton Cast Iron lapping system comes with two bottles of silicon carbide grains. One contains coarser grains, made for lapping Shapton stones with a grain size of 120 to 320. The second bottle contains medium-sized grains, which are intended for lapping Shapton sharpening stones with a grain size of 1000 to 4000. If you want to lap stones with a grain size of 5000 and above, you can use the bottle with fine grains, which is sold separately.
