In 2016, a challenge was issued to TOPS Knives employees. Whoever can design the best axe or tomahawk will be recognized as a designer and TOPS will produce and realize his design. This axe was the winner of this competition. The winner? Leo's father Lorenzo Espinoza Sr. Leo is the president of TOPS Knives, the chief designer, and the person who approves all designs from designers outside of TOPS. You know what they say: like father, like son.
Grandpa's Axe is an excellent combination of size, weight, construction, and cutting ability for an axe of its dimensions. Weighing just under 1.5 pounds, it is a tool that can be easily carried over long distances, making it excellent for backpackers and minimalist campers. The balance is in the head of the axe, and its shape contributes to the overall balance.
