Product Description
On April 1, 1939, Tirpitz, named after Admiral Alfred von Tirpitz, was christened and launched into the sea in Wilhelmshaven. Since then, no larger combat ship has been built in Europe. To mark the 80th anniversary, a special edition Boker Tirpitz-Damascus Gold was released as a reminder that Europe has survived two world wars and has lived in peace and freedom since 1945.
The enormous battleship was sunk in 1944 off the coast of Norway. Immediately after the end of World War II, a Norwegian company sent experts to salvage the shipwreck with the aim of making the highly alloyed steel available for civilian purposes. Boker received some parts of the salvaged armor from Tirpitz. Their Damascus steel blacksmith took these living histories and created exclusive and exceptional steel with a fascinating history.
At first glance, the Boker Tirpitz-Damascus Gold fascinates with its unique damascus blade, which is exclusively coated with gold. The blade consists of 300 layers of hand-forged Tirpitz Damascus with the pattern of the "Great Pyramid". All metal elements, except for the handle itself, are also gold-plated. The blade opens with a thumb stud and is secured with a 1.5 mm liner lock. The knife features a clip with two possible positions for attachment. The handle has an insert made of walnut wood, with the coat of arms and the name Tirpitz engraved. Each knife of this special edition is an elegant combination of history and modern technology. Completely handmade by Boker in Solingen. It is delivered in a collector's packaging with an individual serial number and a certificate of authenticity.
