Honing rods
(47)Honing rods as tools for sharpening the knives are often part of the equipment of various sets of knives, they are used professionally by butchers, chefs and at home. The rod is intended for everyday use, it restores the blade, but does not remove steel.
Honing rods are produced in several sizes, from a small pocket to long ones, it is advisable to choose an adequate length of rod, this applies especially for longer knives. In addition to the size, it is possible to choose between round and oval, there are also ceramic honing rods with different fineness and diamond rods, ie a steel core covered with industrial diamond.
Victorinox honing rods and Wusthof honing rods can be used for kitchen knives produced by these companies, but of course also for any other knives. Reliable sharpening is ensured by rods from the manufacturers Taidea, Fallkniven, Boker, Puma, Mikov. Using a honing rod requires skill, but it is a matter of practice, the reward will be a well-sharpened knife blade.
