A piece of history comes to life! Tirpitz, the sister ship of the legendary Bismarck, was the largest warship ever built for the German Navy. After being commissioned in February 1941, Tirpitz soon became a constant threat to the naval forces of the Western allies in the North Atlantic. History tells of many attempts to destroy this mighty arsenal. After being seriously damaged by air attacks from the British Royal Air Force in September 1944, the ship was placed on the Norwegian coast in Tromsö. Tirpitz was once again the main target of heavy attacks by the Royal Air Force. Then, on November 12, 1944, Tirpitz was hit by special "Tallboy" bombs, causing the ship to capsize in shallow water.
Shortly after the Second World War, a Norwegian specialized company began to examine the wreckage and obtain high-grade steel for further civilian use. Scientists were very interested in this material because it was used in measurement technology research and development, and even in the aerospace industry. Especially for Böker, Norwegian divers now retrieved parts of the special Tirpitz armor from the fjord. These pieces of living history are exclusively forged into extraordinary Damascus steel by our Damascus forger, with an exciting background. The pattern "Great Pyramids" with more than 300 layers adorns the blade of the mighty 4-inch knife and makes it the highlight of any collection.
The handle, made of high-strength aluminum AlMgSi1 (with silicon, making it much higher quality than the standard AlMg3), is hard-anodized and provides a solid and secure grip. The swivel clamp allows for carrying with the blade tilted upward or downward. For the handle insert, we have chosen local walnut, which has a long history as a gunstock wood for German rifles due to its excellent properties. This captivating insert also includes the original Tirpitz crest. This knife combines history, tradition, and modern technology in a truly unique way. It comes in a presentation box with a certificate of authenticity and a serial number.
