Product Description
Before the Second World War, butterfly swords were practically unknown outside of southern China. That changed in the late 1940s when the communists took control of mainland China, forcing many Kung Fu masters to flee the regime and establish new schools elsewhere. Today, thanks to the spread of Kung Fu, these once-obscure swords have become relatively popular.
Butterfly swords are usually sold in pairs, cleverly nested together so they appear as one sword, not two. When drawn, they can be quickly separated and controlled with both hands.
The blades are made of 1055 carbon steel. The handle is made from carefully selected hard wood. The metal guard, shaped like the letter "D," has a forward-pointing protrusion that can deflect and catch the opponent's weapon.
The swords come with a leather sheath that can be hung on a belt using a metal ring.
