Product Description
For more than a century, the majority of the Western world has been convinced that a stabbing sword is better than a cutting weapon. However, there is a series of books by D.A. Kinsley that shed a skeptical light on this ongoing debate. Kinsley talks about many incidents (collected from battles throughout the British Empire) where cutting swords have proven to be just as, if not more, effective than stabbing swords in determining the outcome of a battle.
The President of Cold Steel, Lynn C. Thompson, was inspired by Kinsley's ideas and, after considering all the evidence, decided to create one of the best cutting swords ever invented - the Indian Talwar.
Based on the example of the most experienced Indian fencers of the past and the old Pindari chief, Amir Khan, Lynn combined the strongly curved blade of the British light cavalry with the traditional blade of the Talwar.
The blade is hand-forged from hard carbon steel 1090. The handle is made of brass with intricately decorated surface. Arms of the guard extend from the handle, one short and the other transitioning into a knuckle guard. The handle is finished with a traditional disc-shaped pommel.
The Talwar comes with an excellent scabbard made of wood covered in black leather and finished with thick brass fittings on both ends.
