Product Description
During the outbreak of the American Civil War, two types of sabers were issued to the federal cavalry: "light" and "heavy". The light version was popular, but the heavy model called "Old Wrist Breaker" was worth owning because its 36" blade offered a greater reach compared to other types of sabers, and its considerable weight gave it the ability to easily crush bones and sever limbs or even decapitate with a single strike.
The blade is made of high-carbon steel 1055. The brass guard has three branches to protect the hand, and the leather handle is reinforced with a wire wrap for a secure grip. It is finished with a solid brass pommel.
The saber comes with a metal scabbard with steel rings, which are used for hanging on a belt or saddle.
